2022 Australian U15-U18 Combined Events Championships

The West Tamar is proud to support Alex as he competed in the 2022 Athletics Championships.

Alex competed to the best of his ability in the Under 17 Decathlon and was on the podium in third place!

Avery Thomas

2022 Australian U15-U18 Combined Events Championships - Athletics

The West Tamar is proud to support Avery as he competed in the 2022 Athletics Championships.

Avery competed to the best of his ability in the Under 16 Heptathlon finishing in 6th place! Avery achieved a personal best in the 200m and 1500m.

Avery was also selected to represent Tasmania at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Melbourne in April. The result? History was made when the Tassie team were named the overall winners of the Under 15 Multi team event and claimed the Life Members Trophy, beating larger states such as QLD, NSW and VIC! This is the first time a Tassie team has won this event.

Angus Seymour and Aiden Gibson

Under 18 Men's State Basketball Team

Angus and Aiden were selected to represent Tasmania in April 2022 at the Australian Under 18 Basketball Championship held in Ballarat.

The team had an amazing tournament winning all but one games and coming away with a bronze medal!

Amelia Whitehead

Basketball

Under 18 Women's State Basketball Team

Amelia has been selected to represent Tasmania in April 2022 at the Australian Under 18 Basketball Championship held in Ballarat.

The Tassie team fought gallantly and came away with a top 8 finish. Well done!

Jackson Wood

Athletics

Australian Track and Field Championship

Jackson was selected to represent Tasmania in Mar/April 2022 at the Australian Track and Field Athletics Championship.

Jackson competed in the U18 men's 100m (finished 12th overall), 200m, U20 men's 200m, U18 4x100m relay, and the 4x200m relay. The 4x100m relay team missed out on a medal by 0.01 of a second!

One of his highlights was the opportunity to meet Australian Olympians Rowan Browning and Cedric Dubler whilst at the event.

Damon White

Hockey

2022 Hockey Australia U15 National Championships

Damon was selected to represent Tasmania in the 2022 Hockey Australia U15 National Championships which was held in Newcastle, NSW from 7th - 13th April 2022. Tasmania's Under 15 Boys suffered a final-second defeat in their 7/8 classification match, finishing the tournament 8th overall.

Australian Track and Field Championship

Australian Little Athletics Championship

Izzy has competed to represent Tasmania at the Australian Track and Field Athletics Championship, Australian Track and Field Championship and has been selected in the Australian Little Athletics Championship.

Izzy finished with a bronze medal in the heptathlon in February.

Brady Hudson

Judo

Brady was selected to compete in the 2022 Judo Australia National Championships held in Queensland from the 10th-13th June. He competed in the under 55kg category. Brady finished in 4th place in his category, one position away from a medal which is an amazing accomplishment.

Shivansh Bindal

Indoor Cricket

Shivansh was selected to play in the Indoor Cricket National Championships for the U15 division. The tournament took place in Cranbourne, Victoria at the Casey Stadium from 1-10 July 2022.

This is the first time in 20 years that Tasmania took part in the championships with two divisional teams going to Victoria (Open Men and U15).

The team made it to the minor semi final in which they lost and got knocked out with a margin of just 3 runs.

Sarah Pennicott

10 Pin Bowling

Sarah was selected to represent Australia in June at the International Bowling Federation (IBF) under 21 World Championships. The event was held in Sweden where Sarah competed in the singles (64th), doubles (23rd), teams (10th), and mixed team (22nd) events. With over 220 participants across 40 countries, Sarah successfully accomplished to finish in the top half of each event.

During her time, she also had the privilege to meet her personal hero American bowler Danielle McEwan, who is an 7x time world champion.

Charley Read

Soccer

Charley was selected to represent the under 16's NTJSA team in the 2022 Kanga Cup held in Canberra during July 2022.

The NTJSA team finished 5th out of 10 teams over a span of 5 games. Congratulations Isabella on your achievement!

Isabella Taylor

Soccer

Isabella was selected to represent the under 16's NTJSA team in the 2022 Kanga Cup held in Canberra during July 2022.

The NTJSA team finished 5th out of 10 teams over a span of 5 games. Congratulations Isabella on your achievement!

Oliver Taylor

Soccer

Oliver (pictured front far right) was selected to represent the under 12's NTJSA team in the 2022 Kanga Cup held in Canberra during July 2022.

The NTJSA team made the semi finals winning 5 out of 7 games with 14 teams in their competition. Congratulations Ollie on your achievement!

Sarah Squires

Swimming

Sarah was selected to represent Team TAS in Swimming at the 2022 Special Olympics Australia National Games. The Games are the pinnacle of competition in Special Olympics Australia and only come around every four years with the games held in Launceston, Tasmania from 16-21 October 2022.

Sarah had a successful experience with the following results:

Gold medal, 25m butterfly

Bronze medal 50m freestyle

Bronze medal 50m freestyle relay

4th 50m breast stroke

Sarah was also fortunate enough to be interviewed by 7 Nightly News!

Aurora De Boer

Triathlon

Aurora was selected to compete in the National Triathlon Championships held in Hervey Bay, Qld in September. With battling illness and unable to eat prior to the competition, Aurora still managed to compete in the team relay event, and produced the second fastest leg out of the 4 people in her team amongst a total of 40 competitors. Congratulations on your achievement.

Chloe White

Hockey

Chloe has been selected to represent Tasmania at the under 16 National Hockey Championships in Hobart from the 30th July – 6th August 2022.

Poppy Walker

Cross Country

Poppy was selected to compete in the 2022 Australian Cross Country Championships held in Adelaide on the 27th and 28th August. Poppy finished 73rd in the championships and also had the opportunity to meet new people, compete on new and exciting track conditions, and participate in an excursion where they had the chance to meet professional athletes and nutritionists.

Arwen Koesmapahlawan

Tennis

Arwen has been selected to represent Tasmania in the upcoming 2022 Pizzey Cup - National Secondary School Tennis Championship. The competition will be held at the State Tennis Centre and Mt Lawley Tennis Club in Western Australia from the 27th August to the 3rd September.

Amelia Wing

Soccer

Amelia has been selected to represent Tasmania in the Under 16 girls National Soccer Youth Championships held in Coffs Harbour on the 19th-23rd September.

Charlie Wemyss

Basketball

Charlie was selected to represent the Northern Tasmanian team in the Under 14 boys National Basketball Competition. The competition was held in Sydney from the 25th-30th September.

Lucy Walker, Chloe Waldron and Isabel McInerney

Basketball

Lucy, Chloe and Isabel travelled to Sydney to represent Northern Tasmania in basketball for the U14 Australian Junior Championships, held from the 24-30th September, 2022. The team was up against extremely intense competition with the team performing incredibly well to win their final game against the Penrith panthers. There were also fortunate enough to meet basketball legends Andrew Gaze and Tassie's own Hollie Grima.

The team finished 11th in the Shield Division amongst 480 players competing in the tournament.

Millie and Cade Sather

Touch Football

Millie and Cade were selected by Touch Football Tasmania under 16 (Cade) and under 14 (Millie) to compete at the 2022 National Youth Championships. The Championships were held at Sunshine Coast Stadium Precinct, Kawana Waters, from 28th September to 1st October.

Millie's team won their final game against Northern Territory and enjoyed a week of good, results and teamwork but were also challenged by some other tough teams during the week.

Cade's team managed to beat the Victorian team, but struggled against the Qld teams.

Ella and Lucy McArthur

Touch Football

Ella and Lucy have been selected by Touch Football Tasmania under 18 (Ella) and under 16 (Lucy) to compete at the 2022 National Youth Championships. The Championships will be held at Sunshine Coast Stadium Precinct, Kawana Waters, from 28th September to 1st October.

Bree Ikin

Touch Football

Bree has been selected by Touch Football Tasmania under 18 Team to compete at the 2022 National Youth Championships. The Championships will be held at Sunshine Coast Stadium Precinct, Kawana Waters, from 28th September to 1st October.

Kade Thompson

Touch Football

Kade was selected by Touch Football Tasmania to compete at the 2022 National Youth Championships. The Championships were held at Sunshine Coast Stadium Precinct, Kawana Waters, from 28th September to 1st October. Kade was part of the Under 12's team.

Ethan, Jordan and Ryan Shipp

Touch Football

The Shipp brothers were selected by Touch Football Tasmania to compete at the 2022 National Youth Championships. The Championships were held at Sunshine Coast Stadium Precinct, Kawana Waters, from 28th September to 1st October. Ethan was part of the Under 12's team, Jordan Under 16's, and Ryan was part of the Under 18's team.

One particular highlight was Ethan being selected as captain and won the player's player MVP.

Lincoln and Colby Woolcock

Touch Football

Lincoln and Colby were selected by Touch Football Tasmania to compete at the 2022 National Youth Championships. The Championships were held at Sunshine Coast Stadium Precinct, Kawana Waters, from 28th September to 1st October. Both Lincoln and Colby played in the Under 14's team.

The team finished 5th in their pool with wins against Northern Territory and Qld Bulls.

Xavier Lowe

Tennis

Xavier was selected to represent the state in the National school tennis championships. The event was held from 22nd Oct - 29th Oct 2022 at the Canberra Tennis Centre, Lyneham ACT.

Xavier had the amazing opportunity to meet Nick Kyrgios whilst competing against the best in his age group from around the country.

Harry and Oscar Blyth

Basketball

Harry and Oscar have been selected to represent Tasmania at the national basketball competition in Albury, NSW in January 2023 (Australian Junior National Country Cup). Harry will play in the Under 16's team and Oscar in the Under 14's team.

Kara Smith

Athletics

Kara has been selected to compete at the Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships held in Adelaide , South Australia from the 9-11th Dec 2022.
