About the Youth Art Showcase

The West Tamar Youth Art Showcase is for young people aged 10 through to 25 years old, living in the West Tamar Council municipality who are interested in revealing their artistic talents through photography, drawing and painting.

The contest is designed to encourage competitors to explore and share their stories through the chosen theme of belonging.


Award Categories

Junior Category: Entrants must live in the West Tamar Council region and be aged between 10-13 on the opening date of the Showcase.

Upper High Category: Entrants must live in the West Tamar Council region and be aged between 14-18 on the opening date of the Showcase.

Young Adults Category: Entrants must live in the West Tamar Council region and be aged between 18-25 on the opening date of the Showcase.

Prize Details

Prizes

Each Category will have two category winners, consisting of 1st and 2nd places.

There will be two awards separate to the category winners:

The Mayor’s award: will be chosen by the West Tamar Council Mayor and Youth Mayor, out of all applicants across all categories.

The Irene Phelps Award: will be chosen from contestants across all categories, who reside in the Beaconsfield and surrounding area (postcodes 7270, 7275 and 7276)

Entrants are eligible to win up to two prizes maximum (E.g. place 1st in their category and win The Mayor’s Award.)

Through the partnership with the Trust since 2015, the West Tamar Council delivers and supports a range of youth-focused initiatives in the Beaconsfield area, including: school holiday activities, The Beaconsfield Youth Centre, schools programs, youth events and more.

The Irene Phelps Charitable Trust is committed to investing into the lives of young people living in Beaconsfield and the surrounding area.

Making a submission

Entrants are required to read the below Terms & Conditions.

Entrants are required to download the art tag and attach it to the artwork before it can be submitted.

  • Entries must be dropped into either the Beaconsfield Council Chambers, or Windsor Community Precinct on or before 5pm on the 5th of November.
  • Any entries delivered without an attached artist tag or completed online entry form will be ineligible for display at the Showcase and the artist will be required to collect the work.
  • The Youth Art Showcase will be displayed in a public place and there is the risk of damage to artworks during the exhibit. There is no guarantee that artwork will be returned in its original submission state. West Tamar Council will not be responsible for any such damage.
